NewNet Direct Cisco 24 Meg Router Configuration

Windows & Mac Installation

Please read the following configuration instructions...

To begin configuring your Cisco Wireless Router please ensure your computer is turned on and the Cisco router is connected to your computer via the Ethernet cable provided and turned on. See Here

Step 1. Open an Internet browser window (IE, Firefox etc.) and enter your Gateway IP in the address bar of your browser window. e.g. http://192.168.1.1 and click "go".

You will be prompted to enter a Username and Password, please enter the following: 

                        Username: admin
                        Password: admin

and click 'OK'


Step2. This will present you with the basic ADSL settings.  Please Change the ADSL settings to match the screenshot below . The settings that require changing have been highlighted in red.

N.B. please ensure you enter your full adsl user name as provided on your welcome e-mail, e.g. your_username@adsl.newnet.co.uk

Step 3. Click 'Save Settings' at the bottom of the ADSL Settings screen to save the changes. After clicking Save settings you will see the progress bar in the bottom right hand corner move slowly as the router saves the settings. This may take 20-30 seconds to update. 

Step 4. Change the default password for the router login.

Newnet always recommends that users change the default password for their router. To do so please click on 'Administration' on the menu at the top of the screen

Step 5.  Under Gateway password type the new password you wish to use for the router login and confirm below. Click 'Save Settings' This password is only used to log into the router status and settings page as described in step 1.

Make sure that the password is something that you will remember - good passwords include a combination of numbers and letters.
