Broadband Modem

Windows Installation

Before you start, please take a few minutes to check the following:

A. Have you received notification that your Broadband line is ready?
All NewNet customers will be notified to the email address provided at time of order

B. Does your Modem pack contain the following items?

  1. Voyager 105 USB ADSL Modem
  2. Microfilters (2 supplied)
  3. Blue USB cable - used to connect the modem to your computer
  4. Black line cord - used to connect the modem to a microfilter
  5. CD and CD holder - containing the modem drivers and the Installation and User guides

STEP 1 - Connecting your Broadband Modem

1.1 Disconnect your phone line from the wall socket

1.2 Plug one of the Microfilters into your telephone wall socket

1.3 Re-connect your telephone cable into the socket on the Microfilter clearly marked "Phone"
 
Note: you will need to plug a Microfilter into every telephone wall socket that has analogue devices connected to it, such as telephones, faxes, modems and some digital television services before proceeding to the next step.

1.4 Next connect one end of the black line cable into the black socket of the Microfilter labelled "DSL"

1.5 Connect the other end of the black line cable into the Broadband modem in the socket labelled "DSL"

STEP 2 - Installing the Broadband Modem Software

2.1 Ensure your computer is turned on and fully functional

2.2 Close all applications and ensure that any Anti-Virus/Firewall software is turned off

2.3 Insert the Easy-Install Modem CD into the CD-ROM drive and it will autorun after a few seconds
Note: If the CD does not autorun please go to "My Computer" and double left mouse click on the CD-ROM drive icon

2.4 The start-up splash screen will appear

2.5 Click on the second button "Install Drivers" from the splash screen menu you will then be presented with a new screen listing ten points on getting started. Please ensure you read this for information only and continue to Step 2.6

2.6 Click on "Install Drivers" to start your driver installation

2.7 You will be presented with a licence agreement screen. To continue the installation process click 'Accept'

2.8 The install process will only take a few minutes and your modem drivers will now be installed

2.9 You will then be presented with an on screen prompt to connect your Modem to your computer

2.10 Connect one end of the blue USB cable into a free USB port on your computer. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the socket covered with the blue sticker on your Broadband modem

Your computer will detect the new hardware and install the software automatically

You may now remove your Easy-Install Modem CD from the CD-ROM drive and proceed to Step 3

STEP 3 – Connecting to the Internet

3.1 Double click on the ADSL Modem shortcut icon now located on your desktop

3.2 A connection window will be displayed

3.3 Enter your username (username@adsl.newnet.co.uk) and password that you selected when ordering your NewNet Broadband

3.4 Tick the "Save this username and password" box for future convenience, and click "Dial"

Congratulations!

You are now connected to NewNet Broadband.
