Meadows takes another podium in British F3 campaign

25 June 2007 - NewNet sponsored Mike Meadows scored a third place finish in the first of the two Monza rounds of the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series and backed this up with a fourth place in the second race, to put himself back in contention for the National Class championship title.

As the Series approaches mid season Meadows has experienced mixed fortunes with two bouts of bad luck in the last rounds that had setback his title campaign. The Monza round saw the Banbury racer start to show a return to form and he expects to continue with this trend.

"It was good to experience the Monza circuit which has so much history," said Meadows. "I thought it would be more difficult than I found it, but our challenge was the limited practice time, with only one 30 minutes session before the two qualifying sessions. We were a little off the pace all weekend, so I think we had the best results we could have expected.

"We were starting to fall off the track in the last couple of rounds, but we're definitely back on it now and picking up the pace in the title hunt. With more than half the season still ahead of us, there's certainly a chance for us to improve on our third position which is where we’re currently lying.

"It’s working well for me at Raikkonen Robertson Racing, particularly with Stephen (Jelley) who has quite a bit of experience which helps me. Being able to share data with my team mates is also proving useful and overall it's helping me to be more professional. I'm now looking to Brands Hatch to step further up that podium and take points off my main rivals, Sergio (Perez) and Frankie (Cheng)."

Meadows' potential as a young talent of motorsport has been recognised by the British Racing Drivers Club, with his selection into the BRDC Rising Stars scheme and by the Motor Sport Association, with this industry body awarding him a place on the new MSA British Race Elite programme. The young racer graduated to the British F3 Series this year, following a successful season of racing in the UK Formula BMW championship.
