As well as it being particularly important to Newton
to win and to be a part of the team, he is taking the opportunity
to raise money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.
This is a charity that dedicates itself to prevention
of the disease, finding a cure for those who have it and prolonging
life where that is not possible. His goal is to raise £30,000
and at the time of writing, is over half way there.
Newton enjoys keeping fit, gardening and skiing, has travelled widely.
When the Race is over, he plans to retire from working life and
possibly continue with raising money for charities.
Eventually, he plans to start building a house on a plot of land
that he has in Southern Turkey.
