Setting up your BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router


- Connect the Power Supply and plug into your router.
- Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of the four ports on the back of the router using the cable provided.
- Plug the other end into your Ethernet port on your computer.
- Connect one end of the DSL cable to your router and the other end into your telephone socket using the ADSL splitter or Micro-filter provided.

Wait 2 minutes for the router to complete its start-up operation. You should see the following lights lit green;
- Wireless
- Power
- one of the lights numbered 1 to 4
- DSL

Open a web browser and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, and click 'Go’.

You should see the BT Voyager login screen. Enter the username (username@adsl.newnet.co.uk) and password as specified in your instructions from NewNet. Then click the 'Connect’ Button.

After a few seconds, you should be presented with a confirmation that your BT Voyager router is connected. Click on the 'Advanced’ link.

On the page headed 'Advanced Configuration’, click on the 'Advanced' link.

A menu should expand to the left of the page. Click the 'Quick Setup' link.

On the first quick setup page, enter the VPI as '0’ and VCI '38’. Then click 'Next’

On the 'Configure connection type’ page, select 'PPP over ATM (PPPoA)’ as the protocol and set the encapsulation to 'VC MUX’ then click 'Next’

On the 'Configure WAN IP Settings’ page, select 'Obtain an IP address automatically’. Ensure 'enable NAT’ is ticked and MTU is set to '1460’ then click 'Next’.

On the 'configure broadband username and password’ page, enter your full username (username@adsl.newnet.co.uk) and password as specified on your NewNet instructions. Ensure you have selected 'Always on’ under the 'Session established by’ heading, then click 'Next’.

On the configure LAN side settings, ensure that the primary IP address and subnet mask fields are populated with the data (below), then click 'Next’.

On the 'summary’ page, ensure you have the settings correct and click 'Finish’.

The router will now reboot and may take up to 2 minutes to reconnect.

Once the router has completed the reboot, you should be presented with a 'connected’ page.

You can now proceed to either enable or disable the Wireless functionality unless you intend to use wireless, it would be more secure to disable it.

Open a web browser and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, and click 'Go’.

On the next page, click on the 'Advanced’ link.

On the 'Advanced configuration’ page, click on the 'Advanced’ link and select 'Wireless’ from the menu on the left of the page.

On the 'Wireless configuration page’ un-tick the 'Enable wireless network’ box and click apply.

The wireless light should go out on the front of the router.

Exit your web browser.

To ENABLE the wireless function and encrypt the connection

Open a web browser and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, and click 'Go’.

On the next page, click on the 'Advanced’ link.

On the 'Advanced configuration’ page, click on the 'Advanced’ link and select 'Wireless’ from the menu on the left of the page.

On the Wireless configuration page, ensure “enable wireless network” is ticked. Enter an SSID. This is the name of your wireless connection. When you connect your computer to the wireless network, it will normally show this name as an identifier. After you have entered an SSID, click 'Apply’.

On the Wireless Configuration page, click on the link “Encryption”.
Select “WPA-PSK (For Home/SOHO)” under 'wireless security’.
Next, create unique encryption key (in the pre-shared key field).
Ensure the key is alphanumerical and is something not easily identifiable, then click 'Apply’.
NB: Make a note of this key as you will be required to enter it when you connect your computer to the wireless network for the first time.

Congratulations, you have set-up your BT Voyager 2110 Wireless router successfully.
