Cute FTP
Cute FTP is a popular piece of software for uploading/downloading Web pages for the PC. You should NOT use this software for uploading FrontPage sites as it can damage your FrontPage extensions, preventing your site functioning properly.
Start Cute
FTP.
The window on the left displays the contents of your hard drive, the right
hand site displays the Web server (this will be blank unless you have
established a connection).
Click on the Site Manager icon, illustrated by a red circle on
the example below.

The Site
Manager window is displayed.
Click on the New button.

The Label
for site: is a name that you assign to the site. The FTP Host
Address:, FTP site User Name: and FTP site Password:
are as per the uploading instructions Newnet have sent you. Change
Login type to Normal
Click on Connect.

You are
presented with a Login Messages window confirming your connection
to our Web Server.
Click on OK
You will
now see that the window on the right is displaying the folders folders
on our Web server. There is a folder called www-docs which is your
root folder and the one in which you should place your site.
Double click on www-docs.
You will
see that there are already some files in www-docs. You should not
delete any files or folders that you initially see. The file called index.html
is a standard NewNet 'Website under construction' page and needs to be
overwritten. The front page of your Web site should be called index.html
for this purpose - index.htm will not work.
Select the folder on your hard drive that contains your Web pages.
Highlight your pages and folders.
Drag and drop you pages and folders into the window on the right.
They will start to transfer to the Web server.
Once completed your site can be viewed.
Downloading pages is done in the same manner, but by dragging selected
pages and folders from the right hand window to the left hand window.
