Mac OS X dial-up settings

Choose System Preferences... from the Apple Menu.

Click on the Network icon. apple network

Choose Internal Modem from the Show menu.

Click on the TCP/IP tab and then choose Using PPP from the Configure menu.

Click on the PPP tab and then:

  • Enter 0845 684 0044 into the Telephone Number field
  • Enter your NewNet username into the Account Name field
  • Enter your NewNet password into the Password field
  • Tick the Save password checkbox if appropriate

Click on the Proxies tab and then:

  • enter webcache.newnet.co.uk into the FTP Proxy field
  • enter 8080 into the FTP Proxy Port field
  • ensure the FTP Proxy and Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV) checkboxes are ticked
  • enter webcache.newnet.co.uk into the Web Proxy (HTTP) field
  • enter 8080 into the Web Proxy (HTTP) Port field
  • ensure the Web Proxy (HTTP) checkbox is ticked

Click on the Modem tab and then select the appropriate description of your modem from the Modem menu.

Click on the Apply Now button to confirm your Network settings.

Open the Internet Connect application (usually found in the Applications folder).

Ensure that Configuration is set to Internal Modem.

Click on the Connect button to connect to the Internet.
