Open a Web Browser and enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar, then hit Go

At the Log in prompt, enter the username and password to login to the router. The default login details are;

Password: password

On the setup wizard select no I want to configure the router myself, then click next.

Complete the basic settings (as below). Ensure you enter the username and password exactly as specified in your instructions from NewNet, then click apply.

Next, select adsl settings from the menu bar and configure as below. Then click apply.

Next Click on WAN setup on the menu bar and configure as below, then click apply.

You can now proceed to either enable or disable the Wireless functionality unless you intend to use wireless, it would be more secure to disable it.

To DISABLE the wireless function

Select the wireless link from the menu bar and ‘un-tick’ Enable Wireless Access Point, then click apply. The wireless light on the front of your router should switch off.

To ENABLE the wireless function

Select the wireless link from the menu bar and ‘tick’ Enable Wireless Access Point. Under security options enter an SSID (This is the name of your wireless connection. When you connect your computer to the wireless network, it will normally show this name as an identifier.) Select WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key). Enter a Network Key and ensure the key is alphanumerical and is something not easily identifiable, then click ‘Apply’. NB: Make a note of this key as you will be required to enter it when you connect your computer to the wireless network for the first time

Congratulations, you have set-up your Netgear DG834G Wireless router successfully.
