Configuring a new e-mail account using Microsoft Outlook 2003

Start Microsoft Outlook 2003

Select Tools > E-Mail accounts

Select ‘add a new account’ and click Next

In the ‘server type’, select pop3 and click Next

Enter your Name, Full email address, incoming (pop3) server and outgoing (smtp) server Ensure you enter your username and password as per your NewNet instructions, then click ‘more settings’.

In the more settings dialogue box, select the ‘outgoing server’ tab and tick the box ‘My outgoing server requires authentication’. Ensure you have ‘use the same settings as my incoming mail server’ selected and then click ‘OK’.

Click finish on the final screen. You will now be able to send and receive email.

Configuring the junk e-mail filter in Microsoft Outlook 2003

Start Microsoft Outlook 2003

Select Tools > Options

Under the preferences tab, select Junk email

Choose your preferred level of filtering

From the other tabs, you can select safe and unsafe senders

Junk e mail will by default be delivered to the ‘Junk email’ folder.
