Configuring a new e-mail account using Microsoft Outlook 2007

Start Microsoft Outlook 2007 and select tools > account settings

Click the New... button.

Select “Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP” and then click next.

Select the “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” checkbox and click next.

Please ensure you enter the details exactly as specified on your NewNet instructions then click “More Settings”

User Information:
Your Name – type in the name that your recipients will see in the “From” field of e-mails you send.
Email Address – type in your complete email address.

Server Information:
Incoming mail server (POP3) – type i.e. pop3.newnet.co.uk.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) – type i.e. post.newnet.co.uk

Logon Information:
User Name - type in your username as per your NewNet instructions.
Password – type in the password for this email account.

Select the Outgoing Server tab and check the box next to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”. Select also the radio button next to “Use same settings as my incoming mail server and click OK”.

Finally, click Next and then - Finish.

Your e mail account will now appear in the accounts settings list. Click close.

Configuring the Junk email filter in Microsoft Outlook 2007

Start Microsoft Outlook 2007

Select Tools > Options

Under the preferences tab, select Junk email

Choose your preferred level of filtering

From the other tabs, you can select safe and unsafe senders

Junk e mail will, by default be delivered to the ‘Junk email’ folder.
