Configuring Microsoft Outlook 97
Setting up a mail account in MicroSoft Outlook 97 ( included as part of Microsoft Office 97)
Click on Tools
and select Services from the drop-down menu.

In the Services
window click Add

In the Add
Service to Profile window, ensure that the Internet Mail (sometimes
called Internet E-Mail) is selected and click the OK button.

In the Internet
Mail window enter the following information:
Full
name: Your name
E-mail
address: Your email address as per the dial-up instructions we sent
you. This should all be lower case.
Internet
Mail server: Also known as your Incoming Mail server. As per
your your dial-up instructions. In most cases this will be pop3.newnet.co.uk.
Account
name: your username as per dial-up instructions
Password:
Your email password as per your dial-up instructions.
Click on
Advanced Options...

In the Advanced
Options window enter the outbound mail server details. This
is also known as your Outgoing Mail server. This information will be shown
on your dial-up instructions. For most customer this will be post.newnet.co.uk.
Click OK.

Click the
Connection tab on the Internet Mail window. If you are connecting
to the Internet with a modem, select the Connect using the modem
radio button and select the appropriate dialer from the Dial using
the following connection: drop down list. Click on the OK button.

Click the
OK button on the Internet Mail window.

Click the
OK button on the Add Service To Profile window.

Internet
Mail
has now been added to the Services list. Click the OK button.
If it does not appear, redo the set up from the beginning.

Click on
File on the top menu bar and select Exit.

Set up
is now complete. The following steps will show you how to check for new
mail.
Click on
Tools and select Check for New Mail

If you've
received mail then this should appear in your Inbox as shown below.
