Configuring a new e-mail account in Mozilla Thunderbird

Start Mozilla Thunderbird

Select Tools > Account settings

Select “Add Account”, then in the Account Wizard select ‘New Account’ and click Next

Enter your Name and full email address as per your instructions from NewNet and then click Next

Enter the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail server as per your instructions from NewNet, then click Next

Enter your username as per your instructions from NewNet. The username for both the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) server will be the same. Then click Next.

Enter a display name for your email account. This will be displayed in the Thunderbird email client, then click Next.

Verify that all the details are correct and match those sent to you by NewNet, then click finish.

Configuring the junk e-mail filter in Mozilla Thunderbird

Start Mozilla Thunderbird

Select Tools > Account Settings

Under the Account Settings tab, select Junk Settings and select “Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account” and click OK.

How Mozilla Thunderbird handles Junk mail.

Select Tools > Options

Select the ‘privacy’ option, and the ‘Junk’ tab. You can either set the junk email to be:
- Delivered and moved to the ‘junk’ folder
- Automatically delete suspected ‘Junk’ when it is delivered
