Configuring Outlook For XP
Setting up a mail account in MicroSoft Outlook Express on Windows XP
Click on Tools in the top menu and
select E-mail Accounts...

On the E-mail
accounts page select the Add a new e-mail account radio button
Click Next
>

On the Server
Type page select the POP3 radio button
Click Next
>

You will
now see the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) page
You will
need the e-mail set-up details that NewNet sent you when you joined.
In the Your
Name: field enter the name you would like displayed on your e-mails
In the E-mail
Address: field enter your e-mail address as per your joining
instructions
In the User
Name: field enter your username as per your joining instructions.
In the Incoming
mail server (POP3): field enter the incoming mail server details
as per your joining instructions (typically this will be pop3.newnet.co.uk)
In the Outgoing
mail server (SMTP): field enter the outgoing mail server details
as per you joining instructions (typically this will be post.newnet.co.uk)
Click Next

On the
Internet E-mail Settings page select the Connection tab
Select the
Connect using my phone line radio button
Select
NewNet from the Use the following Dial-up Networking connection:
drop down box

Select the
Outgoing Server tab
Ensure there
is a tick in the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
tick box
Select the
Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button
Click OK

You will
receive a Congratulations! page confirming set-up
Click Finish
to complete set-up
