Powerhost Support - Reseller First Steps
Getting Started:
The PowerHost Reseller account setup charge includes a 2 hour training session in the creation of the package.
1. Login to your Powerhost reseller control panel using your account username and password.
2. If this is the first time that you have logged in, you will be prompted to create an administrative user for your reseller account. This is the user that will have access to setup domains and configure services on your reseller account.
3. Enter the username for the administrative account (this must be between 5 and 12 characters in length and must begin with a letter) and the password (this must be between 5 and 12 characters in length, be different to the username and also meet some complexity requirements). Enter an email address for the user and, optionally, a brief description or title.
4.
Once the administrative account has been created you will be presented with a link to login to the new account. Click on the 'Login' icon to open the administrative control panel in a new window.
5.
The administrative control panel will initially be very bare as you have not yet entered your company details or created any hosting packages.

6.
First, your company details must be entered. Click on the “Look and Feel” option in the menu.

7.
Select the “Company Info” option and enter your company details. Once these are saved you should see the copyright notice at the bottom of the page change.

8.
Click on the “Regional Options” menu item and select the options appropriate to the country you are based in.

9.
Now you must create a DNS zone for your reseller account and all of your end customers to use. This is an important step in setting up your reseller account as this will allow you to re-brand all of the Powerhost services that you will be providing to your customers. Click on the “E. Manager” (Enterprise Manager) link in the menu and ensure “DNS Manager” is selected.

10.
Click on “Add DNS Zone” and enter the domain name that you would like to use as your primary reseller hosting domain. This is the domain name that your customers will use for accessing mail, control panels, DNS servers and other hosting services. You may opt to allow third-level hosting on this domain, so that you and your customers may use, for example, “username.mydomain.com” with full hosting services (web, email, FTP etc.).

Click Submit to enter details.

11.
Once the DNS zone has been created click the “Edit” link for it in order to view the current DNS records.

12.
Click on the “Add instant domain alias” link to create a temporary domain that can be used when customer hosting accounts are created (customers will be able to access their webspace using an instant alias until their actual domain has been registered or the DNS changes propagated). Enter a label for the instant alias, for example “user” or “instant” and click “Submit”.
