NewNet
Broadband SDSL services offer a wide range of features and options,
offering cost-effective packages to suit all requirements and
budgets.
Backup dial access
All NewNet Broadband accounts are provided with a FREE of CHARGE backup
dial-up account. This allows connection to the internet in the unlikely
event of broadband failure via a modem and standard PSTN line. Calls
are charged at 0845 rates (actual call cost will depend on your line
provider).
Games server access
All NewNet broadband accounts provide fast access to online games
servers.
Anti-SPAM filter
All NewNet broadband accounts offer anti-SPAM filtering. Email is
filtered and either 'tagged' as SPAM or deleted - tagged items can then
be filtered by your local mail software (Outlook, Mozilla, Thunderbird
etc.) to a separate folder as required. Mail identified as spam and
then deleted will not reach your system.
Multiple PC access
All NewNet broadband services allow multiple PC access - making use of
either local network address translation (NAT) or dedicated static IP
addresses.
Use your PC as a telephone
Broadband accounts may be used to support Internet telephony services -
using BT Communicator or Skype etc. A software application loaded to
your local PC will allow you to use a microphone and headset/PC
speakers to enable voice communication with another remote user - who
may be using a similar application (providing free calls) or connecting
via the public telephone system (calls chargeable via your phone
service provider). Using broadband calling allows you to talk and surf
at the same time - even from a machine without access to a standard
telephone connection!
Managed SDSL router
NewNet offer a pre-configured SDSL router to link your local network to
the SDSL enabled circuit. The router provides 4 ethernet ports with
integrated switching and SDSL modem. The router will be fully
configured with your circuit details and tested before being shipped to
you at the installation address. Routers are provided as leased managed
units at an annual charge of £139.
Managed SDSL firewall
NewNet Business broadband accounts offers a managed SDSL firewall
option. The SDSL firewall blocks all inbound traffic to your network
whilst allowing all outbound traffic. If you wish to run public
services from your network we will unblock the following ports to
specific IP addresses:
20-21 - (FTP)
22 - (SSH)
25 - (SMTP)
80 - (Web)
110 - (pop3)
443 - (Secure Web)
3389 - (Windows Remote Desktop)
If you choose this option, a NewNet technical advisor will contact you
after your order has been received in order to determine your
configuration requirements. The charge made will apply to initial
configuration only - and subsequent configration changes will be
subject to additional charge.
Managed VPN
This option is for NewNet colocation or leased line customers that have
a dedicated firewall, provided and managed by NewNet.
In these cases, we will configure your managed firewall to act as a VPN
concentrator, and configure ADSL routers accordingly to access this
firewall.
